Mass Effect: comics – the first volume

Often goods accompanying a particular franchise, are created only in order to stretch a couple of extra bucks from the wallet of a fan. However, for the authors of the products “under a license”, their creation may provide a chance to shut up plot holes, answer the beggarly questions and present a look at the long -known world, characters and events from the new side.

MASS Effect: Redemption

Everything happened with this comic book. First of all, this comic prepares its reader for DLC “Little Midman” and provides a small look at the nature of the classes of our old familiar Liara between the first two parts. Well, at the same time, we learn how much it was in reality it was difficult for Cerberus to get Shepard’s body for his subsequent resurrection. The comic book itself was not very memorable or distinguished. The drawing seems to be not bad, but at the same time the heroes of the games are practically unrecognizable and of all, at least some similarities can be seen only in the Aria. The plot is also served very quickly and crumpled, because of which it simply cannot be believed in the emerging partnership by Liara and Feron. And changes in the character of our beloved Azari are somehow spasmodic and simply do not read from the entire comic book. On the other hand, the comic book fulfills its role as a role and explanation of everything. The only question that arose: if the collectors needed the body of Shepard, then why did they not catch it right away in space, but they began to wait for it to be incomprehensible? But in general, such a vigorous trifle: 4 releases will not take you much time, and before passing the “log” to read the comic book will not be superfluous. Moreover, the digital copy of its first release was distributed for free with the game itself, which means that the authors knew something. In any case, there is nothing to regret here.

Mass Effect: Incursion

This comic is already a completely optional trifle. Yes, to someone it may be interesting to find out why Aria borrowed a tooth for collectors and follow how she destroys the plans of the mercenaries of the “blue luminaries” and the earners’ beetles. And according to the drawing and in the plot, this comic is a real stump that is not used without the previous Redemption series from which it apparently was cut out, like too filler flashback. But if you have read the last comic book, then why not look at this trifle, especially since it is quite short and will not take time more than a cup of tea.

Mass Effect: Inquisition

At first glance, this mini comic book can be considered the same trifle as the previous comic book of a small format in this series. However, unlike the previous issue, the comic book is much more concentrated on the completely third -third -hand hero of the game Captain Bailey, conducting a brief investigation on the citadel. The investigation begun at the request of the politician and ended with the death of a probably innocent person. It is the story of the first person and the thoughts of Bailey himself that create an atmosphere of Neonuar around the entire story, when the corridors of the space station filled with neon and bright light are not distinguishable from the rainy streets of New York and Los Angeles. At least this release at least read is interesting, despite its microscopic size.

Mass Effect: Evolution

This comic was the first truly https://slotonightscasino.uk/ interesting from the entire line of publications on Mass Effect. He is interesting primarily by his plot: the events taking place are interesting and the characters in them are so good that I, without jokes, read the entire comic book in one gulp, without looking up, until the very end. But he, unlike previous trifles, is a full -format comic book of four issues. At the same time, each release is generously filled with events and, in general, is very good written. Of course, the drawing still does not constitute something special, but at least the characters are quite recognizable as the young mercenary Jack Harper is the future ghost, and Saren at least look like themselves.

So what events could reduce these characters together? What united with the grandfather of the ally of Shepard – General Williams? And of course it was the war of the “first contact” – a short -term conflict of earthlings that had only escaped into a large cosmos and long -rooted tourians, lasted about three months and cost both sides no more than one and a half thousand victims, which seems to be completely insignificant numbers. However, it was this conflict that had so much influenced the world of the game that the antagonist of the first part of Mass Effect Saren and our employer in the sequel Ghost at the head of Cerberus formed these months. It is at the end of the war that on the Earth’s colony, Saren’s brother, the General of Desolas, finds an ancient artifact capable of creating incredibly strong, but zombie creatures – an alloy of organic matter and electronics. Of course, we all learn in the mysterious artifact the ancient remnant of the technologies of the reapers, which automatically transforms everyone into haskov and is able to contribute to the collapse of the whole civilization in case of careless handling. It is for this mysterious find that General Williams sends the young Harper’s young mercenary to Turian rear. Of course, nothing can go so simple when the technologies of the Reaper are involved in the case. The future ghost with the partner will have to visit Illum first of the earthlings and even the capital of the capital of the Turians Palaven from the zombie ancient artifact for a couple with Saren. Naturally, without victims, such achievements are impossible and, as a result, Jack loses his partner Eve with another comrade, and Saren was forced to kill his brother, saving his planet. Well, at the same time, it was from the weakened effect of the artifact of Saren and the ghost that they acquired stylish blue eyes and an increased interest in antiquities, and possibly a heavy, bastard character of them also got from an artifact.

In any case, this comic was quite interesting and fascinating, and in addition, he revealed a number of events of the past, raising a veil of secrets over a couple of long -familiar characters. At least now the suicide of Saren at the end of the first game becomes more understandable – it resonates very well with the decision of Saren to destroy the artifact with his brother with an orbital blow. Unless the hatred of the future spectrum explains to people so -so, for he only with the help of people was able to save his people. Of the events of the comic book, a mood would follow much more logical for cooperation with the best of people, because without it everything would be completely bad. But what we have, we have. At least after this comic book you can even think about the Mass Effect universe, its characters and their motivations. And this is the best that such a concomitant product can give.

Mass Effect: Conviction

But this mini -commanding is a real junk. Not only is there only one fight in it in a bar on an omega. And his main function is to present a new character who will accompany Shepard in the third game of the series performs so -so. As a result, Lieutenant Vega appears before us some stupid and rude thug, without the slightest sense of proportion and tact. Plus the reason worse treats him already in the course of the game itself. For what? Who needed it? Just garbage.

Mass Effect: Invasion

This comic is a somewhat contradictory work. For on the one hand, the aria and the Omega station, I never really interested me and I simply did not give a damn about the fate of this hole in the cosmic scale and the mercenaries, pirates, and other criminal fractions along with their queen, chairman, boss and just tough Azari Ariya T’Loac. On the other hand, the events taking place throughout the comic book can still captivate purely due to the unfolding intrigue, plot turns and action. And this is about something, yes he says.

The plot of the comic book itself continues the plot of the book Retribution, where at the end of Aria and the ghost agreed on cooperation on the basis of studying the remnants of the technologies of the reapers from the destroyed base of collectors for the Retransel of Omega-4. Who could have assumed that the study of the technologies of the reapers does not lead to anything good: the employees of Cerberus from the "that side" are indocrined and turned into Khaskov, who on the captured ships of Cerberus go to the storm of Omega station. Arians along with mercenaries of an eclipse, bloody flock and blue luminaries manage to repel the first attack. The ghost sends to the aid of the Aria of Cerberus, led by General Oleg Petrovsky. True, the true motives of the ghost, of course, are wrapped in cunning plans with dummy tricks and packed in lies with stickers of intrigues. And then a whole kaleidoscope of events is twisted, leading to the capture of Omega Cerberus and the loss of Aria. In addition, the ghost is specifically reconciled. For it is one thing to study the technology of the Reaper and prepare for their invasion. And completely different to deliberately allow their people to appeal to Haskov and set them on their enemies. What’s next? Transactions with the Reapers, hoping to deceive and use them "for the benefit of humanity"?

In general, the comicck is not fish not meat. Yes, it has fascinating events, but they unfold with uninteresting characters. If General Petrovsky had not been present in the comic book with his love to quote old earthly strategists and the use of ancient tactics, then there would be no interesting heroes at all. But I still did not regret the time spent and the comic book more likely went into plus. At least now I am not surprised that the comic book continued in the third part in the format DLC.

Mass Effect: Homeworlds

And this comic book series is a real almanac dedicated to the past of some associates of Commander Shepard in the game. Although, to be honest, the feasibility of uniting four different comics in one series causes some doubts. Well, it is not for me to judge the authors.

And the first release is entirely dedicated to the new companion of the commander entered only in the third game – James Vega. And although there was already one micro -command for him, the authors considered it not open enough. And this story, to be honestly helps the matter. Well, we learned that the dad of our pitching, similar to Brad Pitt, got hooked on “red sand” and tried to prevent young James for military service. And that without Uncle Vega, nothing would shine through life. But in the end, James appeared before us simply a weak -characteristic and aggressive mattress. Did I want to know about such a past of the Sopartian – no. At least this oak character never became more interesting.

In the second issue, we can finally find out how evidence against Saren fell into Tali and why her pilgrimage turned around with a trip with Shepard. The story told is good and perfectly reveals both the queen itself and her relationship with her father. And in general, the comic book is filled with quite interesting events, but everything spoils the disgusting style of the drawing. All figures are distorted, and silhouettes are stretched, like plasticine, and the colors are too bright. If not for such a comic book drawing would be much better.

The third issue is completely occupied by the history of our fan of calibration of Garrus Wakarian, especially when his archangel is an unknown vertic of justice and law on the asteroid of lawlessness omega. A very spiritual story reveals a good thing Garrus and his relationship with his father and law. The drawing also contributes to immersion in the atmosphere of the narrative. After reading, our comrade turns out to be not just an incredibly cool and uncompromising asshole, he also emerges as a rather sentimental and warm character. Very good.

And in the last issue we meet Liara T’Soni, who, as a gray intermediary, tries to dig up at least some information capable of harming the reapers. It is from this release that you can see how Liara ended up on Mars at the beginning of the third game, well, to see one of the last attempts of the ghost to play a gray character and put himself up a good guy. The whole release is the still optional trifle that pulls out only the participation of Liara.

In general, the whole series of comics once again confirms that from uninteresting characters you will not stretch out good stories, and interesting heroes are able to draw out not even the most substantial works. So and here: Garrus> Tali> Liara> Vega – good stories follow good characters, and only the void can follow cardboard. But the series is so normal, just the first issue can be ignored.
